September and October are the best months to visit Slovenia. The harvest is in, the wine is pressed (and last year's is ready), the colours are bright, the weather is still good. So let’s go exploring. It is blessed with spectacular mountains, thick forests and an Adriatic coastline.

We shall be staying on the shores of the Lake of Bled surrounded by beautiful scenery, with its island church and majestic castle perched on the cliff-top above - a perfect picture. As well as time to relax and enjoy all that Bled has to offer, such as treating yourself to a ride with the ‘fijakarji’ the coachman for the horse drawn carriages, a full day excursion will be made to the capital city of Ljubljana - a city by the river on which the mythological Argonauts carried the Golden Fleece - a city of Baroque history nestling between the river and the castle. Another day we shall travel into the Triglav National Park, Zlatorog’s kingdom, and the town of Kranjska Gora and Tolmin fairy-tale towns with narrow streets and skilfully decorated facades, something to tempt everyone, so have those cameras ready.

Our travelling days will be easy with time to explore not only Epernay but also the city of Augsburg in Bavaria. On our return, arriving home mid-evening.
