 Departing London St Pancras in the morning we speed by Eurostar direct to Paris where we change onto a TGV train to Nice, arriving early evening. We soon arrive at our hotel and evening meal in the roof top restaurant. Five wonderful days in this most elegant area of the French Riviera.

We have two full day excursions on famous local trains - the Train des Pignes and the Train des Merveilles. The Train des Pignes links Nice, with Digne les Bains in the Alps of the Haute Provence region. This unique narrow-gauge line of 151 kilometres crosses untamed countryside and deep gorges, taking in various typical Provençal villages.

The Train des Merveilles runs from Nice to Tende with stupendous scenery for you to admire. Amongst the outstanding background you will be able to see the rich heritage of the mountain villages. Every village has something unique to offer no wonder this route is classed as one of the most beautiful railway landscapes in Europe.

On our last day we join the 10.20 from Nice and after changing onto Eurostar arrive back in London early evening.
