Our base for this weekend is once again in the Victorian Spa town of Llandrindod Wells, the largest and most famous of the mid Wales spa towns, with perfectly preserved Victorian architecture built around 1860 to 1930.

Hotel:  Metropole ***
Located in the centre of the historic spa town of Llandrindod Wells, the hotel has been owned and run by the same family for over 100 years. All bedrooms are en-suite and have colour television, radio, hospitality tray, hairdryer and trouser press. Leisure facilities include a heated swimming pool, whirlpool, steam room and sauna. There is a resident holistic therapist for that relaxing massage, mini gym and games room.

Day 1:  Travel through the Cotswolds to our Hotel.

Day 2:  Morning at leisure in Llandrindod Wells then in the afternoon a visit to Powis Castle. A medieval castle rising dramatically above the world-famous garden which is overhung with enormous clipped yews. The castle is renowned for its grand terraced gardens and lavish Elizabethan-furnished rooms.

Day 3:  We drive to the smallest town in the UK, Llanwrtyd before boarding our train, so there will be the chance to visit the Red Kite Centre, and the Cambrian Woollen Mill heritage centre. We shall travel on just a small section of this beautiful scenic journey from Cynghordy back to Llandrindod Wells and our hotel. Sit back and watch, as hills and vales, woods and meadows unfold before you whilst the train travels deep into the Welsh heartlands. A highlight is the 13 arched Cynghordy Viaduct spanning the River Bran.

Day 4:  Our journey homewards will be through the Cotswolds and we shall arrive back in your local area early evening.
