Day 1: After our morning departure we head north making a visit at the Wedgwood Visitor Centre in the heart of the Potteries and expect to arrive in our hotel in time to relax before dinner.
Day 2: After a leisurely breakfast we make straight for the heart of the Lakes and the town of Bowness-on-Windermere. Here you can enjoy the views across this the largest of the lakes or even take a lake cruise. We continue to Ambleside and Grasmere where you may visit the home of the poet, William Wordsworth. We return to our hotel in time to enjoy the surroundings before dinner.
Day 3: Today we visit Kendal, famous for the Quaker Tapestry and birthplace of Catherine Parr, 6th wife of Henry VIII. Then by way of the Kirkstone Pass to Ullswater and Keswick, the pretty town in the shadow of Skiddaw. Along the shores of Bassenthwaite, to Cockermouth a busy town birthplace of William and Dorothy Wordsworth. We make our way back to our hotel by way of Whinlatter Pass.
Day 4: Today we cross the Border, but first taking a look at the wall the Romans built to keep the Scots out! From Birdoswald we stop at Gretna Green, where you can visit the famous Blacksmith’s shop. We then head into Galloway an area settled by the Vikings and our next stop is Dumfries - an ancient and important border town, home for many years to Scotland’s greatest poet Robert Burns.
Day 5: Today we bid farewell to this scenic corner of Britain and head for the Derbyshire Peak District, enjoying lunch at Bakewell. We arrive back in your area, mid evening.
