West Sussex offers a wonderful variety of landscapes from the South Downs to the coastal plains. We have chosen level walks near the coast for this weekend and in the long summer evenings why not take advantage of the hotels extensive outside facilities. Easy walking by day but bring suitable footwear.

Day 1:   Leave your local area and stop in Chichester for lunch. In the afternoon we follow the canal from the city towards the sea. After leaving the city the canal side walk is particularly peaceful, seats are provided at regular intervals. After reaching the marina we cross Saltern Copse towards Dell Quay and rejoin our coach. Distance 4.5 miles.


Day 2:   A level walk under wide open skies. Starting from Selsey across fields and lanes to Sidlesham. Lunch stop at the Crab and Lobster by the Quay at Pagham Harbour. Afternoon walk around Pagham Harbour nature reserve to Selsey. Morning walk 5 miles, afternoon 4 miles.


Day 3:   A linear walk in the levels from Arundel to Goring. We pass Knucker Hole and legend has it that the pond is bottomless for it never freezes in winter or evaporates in summer. Refreshments at the halfway stage in Angmering before reaching Goring by Sea. Total distance 7.5 miles. Return home, arriving early evening.
