England’s Peak District, a wonderful blend of green hills and soft-coloured natural stone villages teamed with scenery to take your breath away and a warm welcome everywhere. Our visit to Chatsworth coincides with a special exhibition to honour the 90th birthday of Deborah, now Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, the last surviving Mitford sister.

Day 1:   Morning departure from your local area with a suitable comfort stop before lunch in Stamford, then on to our Sheffield hotel for late afternoon.

Day 2:   A visit to Crich Tramway Village, a lovingly restored period village that is also home of the National Tramway Museum, nestling high up in the heart of Derbyshire overlooking the Derwent Valley, but first we go to Eyam the village well known for its Great Plague story, then the famous beauty spot of Monsal Head and the picturesque towns of Matlock and Matlock Bath.

Day 3:   Today we visit Chatsworth House, ‘The Palace of the Peaks’. one of our best known and loved stately homes. A visit to Chatsworth offers you the chance to experience the very best of English art and architecture, history and landscape. Explore the beautifully landscaped gardens designed by Capability Brown, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Returning to our hotel taking a scenic route.

Day 4:   Departing after breakfast we will have a coffee stop in Bakewell, famous for its ‘accidental recipe’ that created the famous Bakewell Pudding, and lunch will be in the market town of Newark-on-Trent, steeped in history with its imposing 12th century castle and one of the finest Georgian market squares in the UK. After lunch we must head for home arriving in your local area early evening.
